Blackbirdies!

I would like to apologize to my readers for not blogging the past couple of games over the weekend, unfortunately I had to work all day on both days and just didn't have the energy to watch the replay on DVR, but anyways I'm back
Supposedly I missed a couple of good games, a 1-0 loss to the Rangers who have been on fire as of late, also which Hendrik Lundqvist won that game single handed making 26 saves.  Then on Sunday a 2-1 victory over the Flyers who are 1st in the East and hasn't lost a game in regulation in the previous ten games, and with that victory clinched a playoff spot.  So the playoff beard begins now!
Let's get to tonight's game versus the Blackhawks.  Not really paying much attention to LAST years Stanley Cup champion this year I really had no clue who their goalie was or how good he really is.  I mean we all know Toews, Sharp, Kane, Hossa, Keith but nobody really realized that this kid, Corey Crawford, was this good.  He made some GREAT saves early in this game keeping the Blackhawks in the game. Up until half way through the 2nd when Chara scored to make it 1-0, Crawford was unbelievable.  About 2 minutes after the Chara goal another defense man scored for the Bruins to make it 2-0, Boychuk.  Both goals were deflected in by Chicago players.  On the other side of the ice Timmy T got the start for the Bruins and also played a great game making key saves on what could of been turning points for the Blackhawks.
One player in particular stood out to me in this game, Patrice Bergeron, after 2 periods he had 7 shots on net, 7 face-offs won, and was a +2 with 13 minutes of ice time.  He really was all over the place and I would say 5 of the 7 shots were good quality shots.  The defense played a good game in front of Thomas making sure that Timmy wasn't in a position where he couldn't make the save, also not letting the Blackhawks get too many scoring chances.  Since that New Jersey game this defense has been really really good.  The Bruins won this game 3-0 on a 3rd period goal by Horton who made a nifty move to get Crawford to make the first move and give Horton a wide open net.  Thomas ended the night with his ninth shutout of the season making 32 saves.  Crawford did have a good game as well making 31 saves on 34 shots.
It was pretty noticeable that their legs were gone half way through the 2nd period and I realize that the Blackhawks played a tough, hard fought game last night against the Red Wings and went into overtime to win the game, but no excuses, they need every point they can get to stay in the playoff hunt, especially in the Western Conference.

On a side note the Bruins did not have 1 power play tonight, but killed 2.

Somebody Call 9-1-1

See what happens when Rene sings the National Anthem?  Ass kicking happens! What a game.  From start to finish the Bruins played a hard fought game. The B's did what they wanted, when they wanted.  They scored 7 goals tonight against a team that needed to win tonight to keep up with the B's in the standing and have a fighting chance for 3rd place.  Carey Price had a horrible, horrible game allowing 5 goals on 33 shots and got pulled early in the 3rd period.  There was absolutely no fight in this game for the Canadiens.
As for the Bruins, they played the best game of the season tonight, and to say that this late in the season is pretty impressive.  The power play even got going tonight with a goal and looked very impressive peppering the Montreal net with good quality shots.  Horton and Campbell with 2 goals a piece and Chara, Lucic, and Krejci all recorded 3 assists, career highs for Lucic and Chara.  Thomas made 24 saves tonight and got his 25th career shutout tying him with Byron Dafoe for 6 on the All Time Bruins list.  The only player that didn't have a good game tonight according to the birthday boy, Jack Edwards, was Tuuka Rask.
Tonight's victory was a team effort.  The B's were playing great in the defensive zone, offensive zone, and the neutral zone, capitalizing on all turnovers.  Not being very physical tonight and playing the way that Montreal plays, making great passes and taking quality shots.  They played Montreal hockey tonight and won. So for the Montreal yahoo's who say that the B's only win when their physical, SUCK IT. For the doubters who said the Bruins couldn't keep up with a fast pace team, SUCK IT. And for those of you who said that the Canadiens were going to win this game, SUCK IT!  We beat the Montreal Canadiens playing THEIR game.  Even on the penalty kill we scored on a 5-3, and killed all 4 of their power plays.

On a side note the most important part of this game was the 2 points that the Bruins got for the victory.  They are now 5 points ahead of Montreal in the standings with 2 games in hand.  Also as slim as it might be, they do have a fighting chance at 2nd place in the East being only 4 points behind Washington with 1 game in hand.

1st Star = The Boston Bruins!

Needless to say no disappointments tonight!

Devils Crash and Burn

Tonight's game didn't start off as I would of like it, I mean why didn't Rene Rancourt sing the national anthem???  What better way to start a game than to have Rene fist pump to start the game off?
As for the game itself, not really the start that all us Bruins fans were hoping for, after the 10 minutes the shots were 10-2 New Jersey.  The Bruins were playing in the defensive zone for most of the period and when they did get into the Devils zone they couldn't do anything.  A power play goal by Ilya Kovalchuk gave the Devils a 1-0 lead, the Bruins got a power play of their own not to long after and did ABSOLUTELY nothing.  Not one shot, they couldn't even get anything going, however a few minutes later Thornton did score a tip in goal with about five minutes left in the 1st period.  After that goal the Bruins picked up their game, finally they were playing good, tough, physical hockey, even Seguin was throwing his body around, Kaberle was utilizing his puck moving skills and getting the puck into the zone and getting a few good scoring chances of his own.  Overall not a bad 1st period, but definitely could of had a better start to the game.
Twenty seconds into the 2nd period the Bruins went on the power play for the 2nd time tonight, and again did not score, but did have 5 quality shots on net, all turned away by Brodeur, much better power play this time around.  Bruins kept their momentum going in the second, playing very good hockey.  8 Minutes into the period the Bruins went on their 3rd power play of the night, and HALLELUJAH they score, that's right the Bruins got a power play goal, a nice pass from Lucic to Big Z that Chara knocked home to give the Bruins a 2-1 lead.  As the game continued the Bruins continued to play very good hockey in all 3 phases of the game.
Going into the 3rd period with a 2-1 lead the Bruins seem to finally have waken up and played some very good hockey tonight.  They did start off the 1st ten minutes like the last 7 games, but once Shawn Thornton scored on a tip in, the Bruins woke up and started playing with passion and emotion, playing great defense, keeping the puck in the Devils zone and creating scoring chances.  Thomas was making saves on shots that needed to be saved by not allowing any bad goals.
Not playing well for about 7 or 8 minutes and not being able to get the puck out of the defensive zone, Chara takes a pass from Lucic in the neutral zone leading to a nice move by big Z and a great pass from Bergeron, Lucic gave the Bruins a 3-1 lead.  With a empty net goal by Recchi that would give the Bruins a 4-1 victory.  Game, Set, Match...

Bruins went 1 for 5 on the power play but looked very good with some good quality shots and good play by the defense.  The penalty kill went 1 for 2 allowing Kovalchuk to score the only goal of the game, but had a BIG kill in the 3rd period with the score 2-1 and the Devils playing like they did in the 1st period.  Thomas made 30 saves on 31 shots coming out big tonight and hopefully gaining some momentum before Thursday night’s game against the Montreal Olympic Dive Team.

3rd Star = Kaberle
2nd Star = Chara
1st Star = Lucic / Thomas

Disappointment = I was contemplating on putting the power play on here but after good play and a power play goal I decided not to.  A good team effort gives this category N/A.

Leafs!

PATHETIC!   The only word that describes this game.  Looked like the Bruins were going to step it up after being down 2-1 in the second period, they were getting shots on net, making good crisp passes, it almost looked like the Bruins were on the power play for the first half of the second period, good passes, good shots but no GOALS.  Then all hell broke loose and the Maple leafs got 2 goals in less than 30 seconds to give Toronto a 4-1 lead and that' s when Claude Julien had enough and decided to pull Thomas.  Still the Bruins couldn't get anything going, Toronto was getting all the chances, they were playing like their play-off hopes were on the line, oh wait it is...
The only bright spot to this game was Seguin.  Seguin played a good game, with 2 great scoring chances and getting robbed by Reimer on both chances, 2 hits, and 5 shots on net.  Claude actually gave him 16 minutes of ice time, my question to Claude is, Did Seguin play that much because he is confident in Seguin or is it because the Bruins were losing throughout the game?
Tim Thomas probably played the worst game of the season.  Letting in 4 goals on only 22 shots.  He seemed out of place and disinterested.  Thomas got pulled after the 4th goal only to return to start the 3rd period, were he made 8 saves on 8 shots.
             *  On a side note the Bruins are 2 for 33 on the Power Play since acquiring Kaberle.

3rd Star = Seguin
2nd Star = N/A
1st Star = N/A

Disappointment = Everyone except Seguin.

Predators and Carrie Underwood

So will tonight be the night the Bruins turn it around?  Will it be the night they play good physical hockey for 60 minutes?  Will the power play FINALLY be able to get going?  Will the "zebras" continue their 2 to 1 penalty advantage to the opposing team?  There are a lot of questions going into tonight's game, but will any of them be answered?
Nashville being only 1 point behind Anaheim and Calgary for the 8th spot in the Western Conference is in a must win situation, if they want to continue to stay alive.  With Pekka Rinne playing as good as any other goalie in the league, it's going to be a tough match up.
Period 1, looking like it's going to be a good game with the Bruins creating turnovers early and capitalizing with a nice top shelf goal by Seguin assisted by Peverly, who looks like he has another speed in this game.  Eight minutes later Kostitsyn tied the game at 1 with a open net goal.  Defense looked lost scrambling to get the puck out of the zone.  With just over 2 minutes left in the period Seguin got an elbow to the ear, ending up bleeding, by Hornvqist who got a game misconduct and a 5 minute major. A chance for the Bruins power play goal to get something going, right?  Penalties are 2 to 1 Nashville.
Period 2.  Power play looked good, but once again NADA.  With two and a half minutes on the power play to start the period the Bruins just couldn't capitalize.    Half way through the period the Predators had a two man advantage and just like the Bruins couldn't get a goal. With some great defense and good goal tending the Bruins were able to kill it, however after the first penalty expired Michael Ryder had a clean break away coming out of the penalty box and got robbed blind glove side by Rinne.
A soft goal by ex B.U. star Colin Wilson gave the predator a 2-1 with 9 minutes left in the period.  It didn't take long their after that for David Krejci to tie the game at 2 with a rebound off a blast by Horton. It was a back and forth period with both sides having their scoring chances and with both Rask and Rinne making great saves keeping their teams in the game.  Penalties are now 3-2 Boston at this point.  Zebra's seem pretty even so far, and have put the whistles away.  The Bruins have killed 10 out of the last 10 penalties against them, going back to the Islanders game.
Period 3.  Two minutes into the period after some great passing from Recchi and Ryder, Bergeron scores and gets his 1st goal since the Canucks game back on Feb 26th.  With that goal, the Bruins have 9 players with points. Half way through the 3rd period after the Bruins wasting, yet again, another power play, Legwand scores to tie the game at 3 on yet another empty net after Rask makes 2 impressive saves and the defense nowhere to be found.  Just like the 2nd period it was back and forth play with scoring chances for both teams and the physical play picking up as the game went on. For the second consecutive game the Bruins went into overtime!   Penalties at this point 4-3 Nashville.
Overtime.  4 out of the last 7 games have gone into overtime and the Bruins are 1-3.  After a horrible penalty by Kampfer and giving the Predators a power play on which Shane Weber scored on a blistering shot from the point to give Nashville the win.
Overall the Bruins played a decent game.  The defense could of played better in the defensive zone as they got caught scrambling a couple of times leading Nashville to score and created scoring chances.  Rask was once again solid in between the pipes making some key saves throughout but also let in a softy on Wilson's goal.  Offense seemed to be connecting well getting to pucks in the corner first, creating good scoring chances. With the new line combination of Seguin, Peverly, and Kelly, it gave a Bruins some speed when they needed it.

3rd Star = Rask
2nd Star = Kaberle (+2)
1st Star = Penalty Kill (Killing 3 out of 4 penalties including a 5 on 3)

Disappointment = Kampfer (Stupid Penalty in O.T.)  &  Power Play (I don't have to explain)

3 Random Thoghts

While driving around today I had a few random thoughts going through my mind.  First, I was trying to figure out why our Bruin's haven't won a game since the Tampa Bay Lightning game.   The Bruins were playing GREAT, great hockey that 6 game road trip.  Everything they were doing just seemed to be working; they actually looked like a Stanley Cup contender.  Kaberle, Peverly, and Kelly all looked like they belonged.  Since that Lighting game the Bruins are 0-2-2, and have been playing like crap.  They have looked like the Providence B's on some instances.  Why?
My second thought was our power play or lack thereof, and since acquiring Kaberle we have managed only a couple of goals.  With all the talent this team has in Krejci, Lucic, Horton, and the "quarterback” Kaberle, this team should be scoring at least 25% of their power play chances.  To win in the post season you have to capitalize on the man advantage.  How has this team been this bad? Absolutely horrible, I know it "looks" good at times, but looking good only gets you so far.
My third and final thought was Lord Stanley.  How good would it be to finally be able to win this thing?  To see our Boston Bruins raise Lord Stanley for the first time in 39 years, in my lifetime (28 years).   To be able to go into Boston and see the Duckboats driving our team around Boston, Black and Gold confetti covering the streets and sidewalks of Boston.  Followed by Cam Neely dancing on the City Hall steps copying Bob Kraft after the Patriots won their 1st Super Bowl.   I'm getting chills just thinking about it.  Man, that would be amazing, that would be the second best moment of my life... of course the first moment is when I married my wife.

Till Next Time,

Blue Jackets

Going into this game I thought the Bruins needed to win this game, they needed 2 points even if meant an overtime win or shootout win. Either way the 2 points are much needed.  With only 2 points separating the Bruins and the Canadians, every game is a must win.  With Columbus hanging by a string and fighting for a playoff spot, tonight's game should be a tough one.

Right away the Bruins had a too many men penalty and started the game shorthanded, not a good way to start a game.  Lucky for them with a couple of good saves by Rask and an almost as bad as the Bruins power play unit they were able to kill it.  About half way through the 1st period Recchi set up Horton for a WIDE OPEN shot that Horton just couldn't handle and blew an opportunity to take a 1-0 lead.   With under a minute remaining in the 1st period Clitsome had a blistering shot go top shelf on Tuuka and give the Blue Jackets a 1-0.  After the last game and the Islanders gaining momentum after their 1st goal with under a minute in the period, I was thinking déjà vu?  The Bruins play didn't get any better starting off the 2nd period and once again nothing was working for them, offense couldn't get anything going.  The defense and Rask is what kept the Bruins in the game. With eight minutes left in the 2nd period and some good fore-checking the Bruins get on board with a goal tipped in by Krejci on a shot by Chara, who by the way has 1 goal and 3 assists since the Pacioretty hit.  The Bruins still playing flat in the 3rd period gave up a goal to Columbus half way through on a wide open net shot by Upshall.  With about 6 minutes left in the 3rd period and the Bruins shorthanded again for the 5th time, Rich Peverly scores an amazing shorthanded goal and tying the game at 2-2.  Rask made some great saves closing out the 3rd period and sending this game into overtime.

Overtime, the Bruins kryptonite. Overtime was, by far, the best 5 minutes of hockey in this game played by the Bruins.  Kaberle made a great save to keep the overtime going and Rask kept his 3rd period momentum going in the overtime session. With back and forth play and good goal tending both teams were scoreless in O.T and now the shoot out...

Rick Nash = SAVE
Tyler Seguin = Scores!
Fedor Tyutin = Misses Wide
Patrice Bergeron = SAVE (Reviewed)
Scottie Upshall = SAVE!!!!!

Game, Set , Match

So the Bruins get their much needed 2 points tonight and with the Montreal Canadiens losing, the lead is back at 4 points with a game in hand.

3rd Star = Peverly
2nd Star = Penalty Killing Unit 6 for 6
1st Star = Rask

Disappointment = Horton (you just can’t miss a wide open net the way he did)

Quote of the night by Jack Edwards = "I think this deserves a criminal investigation for vandalism, don't you?"  After Chara broke the glass with a shot in overtime...

Pesky Islanders

Tonight's game started off pretty well.  The Bruins looked like they were ready to play, and they proved it by scoring the first 2 goals of the game.  They even scored a power play goal; that’s right a POWER PLAY goal.  First one in quite some time., and although it was on a 5-3, it was still considered a power play goal.  Through most of the game the Bruins played a really well against a bad team.  A really bad team.  Fourth from the bottom of the league to be exact.
After playing some good hockey for 39 minutes and 58 seconds the Bruins checked out of the game.  With 2 seconds left in the 2nd period and a 2-0 lead the Islanders scored a power play goal, the B's should of killed that P.P with little effort.  Apparently this goal woke up the pesky Islanders and a minute and a half into the 3rd period they scored again on a shot that Thomas should of stopped.  Nothing seemed to be going the Bruins way in the 3rd period, passes were being deflected and shots were being blocked before they got to the net.  The lack of physical play and not being able to get the puck out of the defensive zone let those pesky Islanders to score one more goal 6 minutes into the 3rd period and thus taking a 3-2 lead.  After leading 2-0 and playing good hockey the Bruins fell asleep as the Islanders score 3 unanswered goals.  With only 30 seconds left, the dagger came by Parenteau gets awarded an empty net goal.
All game I was trying to figure out why Claude Julien decided to start Thomas tonight. It made absolutely no sense to me.  He played great last night in what I thought was an emotional game because of the whole Chara fiasco vs the Canadiens and had to face 45 shots vs the Sabres.  I thought they were trying to rest Thomas as much as possible before the playoffs, so that he can be fresh and fully energized.  I understand Rask had a bad game Tuesday night vs the Habs but with back-to-back games Claude needs to rotate his goalies.

3rd Star = Chara
2nd Star = Horton
1st Star = Krejci

DISAPPOINTMENT = Julien for 2 reason's. (1) Calling a timeout in the second period, and (2) for starting Thomas

B's VS Sabres & Zebras

Finally the Bruins decided to play tonight.  After the past two games (Pittsburgh and Montreal), the Bruins decided to wake up and actually play a very good game.  Right from the start of the game I could see the Bruins had a little extra step to their game. Smooth crisp passes out of the defensive zone, good quality shots on net.  Horton's goal, I thought, was one of the best goals of the year, great passing from Krejci and Lucic. The B's played great 3-way hockey.
The 2nd and 3rd periods seemed like the B's were playing against 2 teams; the Sabres and the zebra's.  Usually I don't complain about the zebra's, but tonight's game was ridiculous!  First it started off with Chara's "Boarding " penalty, then Seidenberg's call.  But it didn't stop there, Boychuk, Kaberle also had B.S calls on them and that was just the 2nd period.  3rd period wasn't great either.  B.S call on Marchand that gave Buffalo ANOTHER 5-3 power play, but this time it led to the tying goal.  About 10 minutes into the period the zebra's missed a big cross check from McCormick on Chara.
Timmy T was great in this game, he made some amazing saves that kept the B's in the game.  If not for some lucky bounces for Buffalo, Thomas possibly could of had another shutout.  At this point in the season, with 16 games left I have to think that Thomas not only is the Vezina winner but has to be in the lead for the Hart as well.  He has some stiff competition in Sedin and Stamkos, but if Thomas keeps playing the way he is, he should go home with two nice trophies come awards night in June.  NOT including the BIG trophy.
I have to admit I didn't think this game was going to be physical after all the hype from the Montreal game. I thought it would be a boring game with no defense and no toughness, boy was I wrong.  If not for the zebras this could have been a great game for the B's.  Unfortunately at the end of the night the Bruins lost their 3rd game in a row on another lucky bounce goal by Boyes.  One thing I can say about tonight's game is that they didn't lose because they lacked effort.

3rd Star = Bruins Penalty Kill
2nd Star = Lucic/Krejci/Horton Line
1st Star = Tim Thomas

Disappointment = Power Play... They looked good but again O for

Chara Hit

Yesterday I posted the Chara hit on Pacoretti was dirty. After watching the video over and over and over again I came to realize the hit was clean. That's right, I said clean.  Pacoretti was trying to be sneaky and skate along the boards after a light dump in and Chara decided to block his path by finishing his check.  Unfortunately Chara pushed him directly into the stanchions where his head got stuck for a second, then fell onto the ice and banged his head, leaving him with a severe concussion and a fractured vertebra.  Now I know there is a lot of people who will disagree with me on this, especially Canadien fans, which is fine, they are fans, they are suppose to support their team.  BUT, I find it a little ridiculous when the Montreal Police department is getting “inundated” with phone calls demanding that they arrest Chara.  ARREST Chara for his hit on Pacoretti?!  It is very unfortunate for Pacoretti that he got hurt as bad as he did, but this SAME exact hit happens almost every game and usually players just seem to get the wind knocked out of them.  Is it really necessary to call the Police over this?   Get a clue Habs fans!!!
It's one thing to support your team, it's a complete other thing when you’re calling the Police department because one of your players is in an unfortunate circumstance.  If only I knew how to speak French, I would at this moment type in the word IDIOTS....

P.S.
In the 2nd period of last night’s game there was another hit that nobody seems to remember or want to talk about.  That at the very least deserves a fine.  The hit I'm talking about was the intentional knee to knee hit that Thomas Plekanec laid on Milan Lucic. I believe that hit deserved a fine only because it was intentional.  No one seems to want to talk about that one, Habs fans seem to forget about that play.  It wasn't even as close to Pacoretti’s injury but that also could of been career threatening.

Habs "Winning"!

Going into this game my confidence level was really, really high.  I thought the B's had this game in the bag, no question about it.  There was no way the Canadiens would win this game after what the Bruins did to them almost a month ago in Boston.  Boy was I WRONG.
The Habs squished the B's like "cockroaches" as a Canadien fan put it.  This game was embarrassing from the moment that Claude Julien started Rask over Thomas, I mean how do you start Rask in a game like this.  It wasn't the end all be all of the season but still a very important 2 points.  The defense was HORRIBLE, the offense was M.I.A, and goal tending was HORRID.  Rask looked like a boy amongst men.  The 1st line looked like they belonged in the AHL and the defense, well a 4-1 score pretty much tells it all.
Where was the intensity in this game?  The end to end play making? The physical play that the Bruins are known for?  The defense was missing passes up ice, not finishing their checks, leaving men wide open in front of the net (i.e Eller's goals).  The non existent power play was once again 0-for, but tonight looked like the power play before the Kaberle trade, seemed like they just didn't have a chance to get in position to get anything going and the penalty kill couldn't get the puck out of the defensive zone and let the Canadien’s score 2 power play goals.
Chara, Chara, Chara what can I say. After seeing the replay several times it WAS a dirty hit. He shouldn't of finished his check at that point.  I do not think he meant to hurt Pacioretty, but, a dirty play is a dirty play and he deserves to be suspended for atleast 1 game.  He did however apologize after the game and hoped that Pacioretty was okay.  He also said that wasn't his style of play and he never intends on hurting anybody, I tend to agree with him on that comment.  There are times where Chara backs off of players around the boards because he is scared of hurting them and also times, I'm sure, that he doesn't give it his all when he shoots that 106 mph afraid of really knocking someone out.
Montreal just had everything going for them.  They played like their lives were on the line. Everything they were doing was working; they looked like the Red Wings of the late 90's.  Carey Price played like a Vezina Trophy winner or perhaps like Tim Thomas does.  I'm done with tonight's game it was just one of those games where who hope you forget about real quick.  Bring on the Sabres Thursday night quick please!!

Crosby-Less Pens

I knew it wasn't going to last the rest of the season. The great defense, the quality shots on net, the lack of turnover. Tonight's game just didn't seem like it was going to be good right from the start with Thornton getting his ass kicked by Rupp, then the go ahead goal that should of been a save by Timmy T and so many turnovers. Looked like the Bruins just didn't feel like playing tonight through the first 2 periods. Whatever was said after the 2nd period seemed to have bring a little life to the Bruins with a little more offense a few good descent shots on net. Nothing seemed to go the Bruins way tonight until my heart almost sunk and Matt Cooke almost scored on a empty net and Kaberle blocked his shot.  With 32.5 seconds left in the 3rd David Krecji scores a nice top shelf goal with the help of Chara who made a great play in keeping the puck in the zone and a couple of nice passes by Lucic and Horton. Overtime hear we come 1 pt in the bag lets get the 2nd right? All the momentum in our favor the B's should have this game in the bag. Not so fast turnover by Seidenburg to Jeffrey and goal that should of been saved Pens win 3-2.  Big game coming up Tuesday vs Montreal I'm not expecting as much action as the last time these 2 teams met but should still be fun to watch (lets hope).

3rd Star = Seidenburg ( would of been 2nd but turnover in OT dropped him )
2nd Star = Chara
1st Star = Krecji

Disappointment = Timmy T... It was hard to do this but with the 2nd goal and OT goal being soft goals Timmy just didn't have it tonight. Yes he made some descent saves but could of made 2 more.. Sorry Timmy

P.S. Tampa

Yesterday while driving around and listening to Gresh and Zo on 98.5 the Sports Hub I heard a comment made by the assistant coach of the Lighting Wayne Flemming " Bruins fans come to watch the fights first and hockey second". This comment started to get my tigerblood flowing, I know a lot of knowledable Bruin's fan out their and I'm not going to lie and say that we don't enjoy hockey fights we do, whats better than seeing Thornton drop the gloves and take it to an opposing teams tough guy.  Us fans go to games because we love our hockey we love our Bruins especially when they are playing great in all 3 fases of the game Defense, offense, and neutral zone. Fights are part of the game, the game we all love and die for and if their is a fight during the game i'm going to be one of the first fans up yelling and screaming and clapping so what!!! its entertainment so just because Moore got his ass kicked by Lucic and fans started clapping and yelling because our guy won doesn't mean that we love fights first it mean OUR guy won. I guarentee that if you ask any real bruins fan what was the best part if that game last night almost everyone would say that fact the B's won. So Wayne just because the toughest player your organization ever had was Manon Rheaume don't be mad at us REAL fans for our B's kicking your asses up and down the ice.... See you in the playoffs!!!!

So I probably should of wrote this last night after arguably one of the best wins of the year but better late than never. Last night proved that the B's could keep up with the best of them. They played a great game most of their passes were crisp, most of their shots were quality shots and on net, the goal tending was once again like we have seen ALL year long GREAT. Timmy T was excellent in between the pipes making great saves and keeping the B's in the game throughout. Yes their was a few incidents were Thomas was sporadic and out of place but like ALWAYS made the saves when he needed to.  Defense was again crisp, they kept their composer on the penalty kill and played a tight tight game not letting Stamkos and St Louis get too many quality shots. I thought the turning point of the game was the HUGE penalty kill  on the 5-3 Bergeron was big and Thomas made some good saves.  In the 3rd their was a couple of big hits that kinda put a little bit more spring to the B's legs made by Boychuk, 1 was the hip check on the defensive zone then a couple of shifts later another one around center ice.  I need to give credit to the zebras on the Lucic goal and keeping the whistle away once the piles of bodies starting falling in front of Smith ( who by the way had a spectacular game ). Lucic did take a very good shot from a tough angle and with someone standing in front of the net. So in conclusion to my 2nd day of blogging I'm going to give you my 3 stars of the game and at least 1 disappointment.  3rd Star = Penalty Killing Unit  /    2nd Star=Thomas  /  And 1st Star= Lucic (No Surprise)

DISAPPOINTMENT = Power Play although it is looking a LOT better they are still 0-for 14?

Day 1 Blogging...

I guess I should start by telling you a little bit about myself.  I'm a 28 year old married male living in Massachusetts.  Needless to say i'm a BIG New England Sports fan. Love the Patriots, Celtics, Red Sox, Revolution, but my heart truly belongs to the Bruins.  UNFORTUNATELY i never got to see the Big, Bad, Bruins with Orr, Espo, Milbury, O'Reilly, Hodge, Sanderson, etc... but i did start watching the late 80's early 90's team that made the Cup finals vs Edmonton. Neely, Bourque, Sweeney, Janney, Oates, Juneau,  MOOG...I remember sitting on the couch with my dad waiting for the Channel 38 music to come on and having a giant smile on my face... The reason for me to be blogging is because i figured Why Not? everyone else does it and some people even make careers of it, i mean im not planning on going that far but hey you never know.  I have to admit i am a little obsessed with sports. I listen to WEEI 850am and SportHub 98.5fm from the time i get into my vehicle (6:15am) till the time i walk into the house (5pm). p.s im a courier which mean im driving ALL DAY LONG then starting at 7pm on most nights their is a game on. My wife, im sure, sometimes wants to kill me and i dont blame her. Most of my conversations with people are about sports and i can talk with the best of them, my opinions are valid just like anybody else.  I'm not afraid to say if a team I root for is sucking or if a player is being a vag...I will be trying to blog after every game i watch maybe I'll even blog about other sports as well with the Baseball season right around the corner and Basketball regular season coming to an end fast with the Celtics kicking ass and leading the EAST.                                             till next time,
